Hare and the Turtle

We met Alethia during her time at Best Ugly Bagel in New Market, while doing some alterations to the menu. She asked if we’d like to sign and brand a new cafe that her and partner Jamie were working on opening.

We talked about a classic diner sort of thing, complete with gold leaf glass signage and unique illustrations incorporated into the logo and printed menus.

So here are some pics of what became Hare and the Turtle. They make the best cinnabuns we ever tasted!

David's Milk Glass

These cool vintage milk glass light shades are part of the personal collection of Bromley & Co. We were asked to paint some of David’s “words” in a classic, minimalist colour palet, and to push the typical fonts of this vintage era into something more expressive.

Bromley & Co.

Our relocation to Melbourne brought us to Bromley & Co, a partnership between David and Yuge Bromley. We love the freedom in David Bromley’s work and his ability to collaborate with unbounded creativity. Everything we do for Bromley & Co is directly painted onto his inspired works, which are a range from: Canvas, timber, leather, paper, ceramics, clothing, vehicles, windows, metal and more.

There is usually very little in the way of a brief when working with David and Yuge. The process we have adopted is much like working as a band in a recording studio. We track it and see where it leads.

Breaking the rules is part of Bromley & Co. We wanted to see how far we could push David when we painted this William Burroughs quote over the faces of his smoking boys.

Vintage cars, custom bikes—the world of Bromley knows no limitations when it comes to what you can and can’t play on with paint.

The Pie Shop Brunswick

Matt from Brunswick East’s ‘the Pie Shop’ needed some sprucing of his interior chalk boards, from old dusty chalk scratchings to something clean, simple and punchy.

For his menu chalk, we employed the use of chalk markers which are waterproof and removable, good for when new price points and seasonal changes call for updates.
